These are some simple pages I threw together to show how NewTek's Video Toaster, Toaster Flyer, and a DPS TBC cards fit into an Amiga 4000 desktop.  This is not meant to be an all-inclusive tutorial on the Video Toaster or instructions on how to install one.  It is intended only as a reference to how it all fits together, although I did a little explanation on some of the cards and their functions. Maybe you will find it useful.

Click on the links above to see the individual cards, or how they all fit into an Amiga 4000 desktop.  The links are pretty graphics intensive, ranging from around 400k to about 50k per page.  All the images were shot with a video camera and grabbed directly into another Toaster system I have. I left the images pretty much the original size (640 x 480 after aspect ratio adjustment) but cropped out stuff that wasn't necessary.  I jpegged them at 85% quality using ImageFX, so each image is around 80k.

The Video Toaster card is capable of fitting in all Amiga computers with a video slot. There are 2 versions of the card, the original Video Toaster card, and the Toaster 4000. Either card will work in any big box Amiga, but the Toaster 4000 has some additional capabilities that the original card does not, namely the ability to use 64-color wipes by using the Amiga 4000's AGA chip set.

Some of the latter third-party video slots produced to fit in tower cases are supposedly not compatable with the Toaster card.  I don't have any experience with those, so I don't know this to be a fact.  Also, supposedly some third-party Zorro slots are not compatable with the Flyer, but I don't have any experience with that either. If you intend to buy some of these 3rd party connectors, make sure of compatability first.

As a PS, since I first created these pages, I've since put my Toaster/Flyer in an Amiga 4000 Tower with a Picasso IV graphics card. Maybe one day I'll get around to showing how all that fits together. Another note is that I'm using OS 3.9 with my A4K Tower with a Toaster/Flyer and it works great, contrary to what other people may say.

For the "Official" Toaster/Flyer FAQ, tips, hints and troubleshooting page, visit Chuck Baker's site at http://clbaker.home.texas.net/Flyer/vtmlfaq.html. Chuck is/was the Technical Director for NewTek. Also, if you need help fast or you just want to talk about the Toaster/Flyer, then you should sign up for the official Toaster/Flyer mail list. There are hundreds of T/F users on the list who are very helpful and the signal to noise ratio is quite high, unlike a lot of other mail lists.
